Hawaii Special at Bamboo Hale

I had lunch with some friends at Hawaii Community College Culinary program’s Bamboo Hale.

The menu on this day was the Hawaii Special. We started with a kalua pork nacho.

The salad course was a HawCC Ag Salad with roasted beets, hakurei turnips, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, mixed greens, and beautifully plated Green Goddess dressing.

Next we enjoyed a Portuguese bean soup.

For our entree we could choose from either the Lamb Loco Moco with arancini, egg, and house gravy or the Pork Loin Jun with snow peas, and kimchi fried rice.

The sweet bite at the end of the meal was a creamy Lilikoi Cheesecake with mac nuts and a lilikoi gelee. In true local style, the lilikoi came from Chef Karen’s neighbor’s tree. So yummy!

Unfortunately you won’t be able to visit any time soon since the restaurant is closed for the summer since the semester is over. Check back next semester and have a meal while supporting our community college. Visit
