When you think of Air Supply, what song comes to your mind? If you were a teenager in the 1980s like me, there are so many! And somehow, all the songs are related to you or your friends!
When I heard that Air Supply was coming to Blue Note in Honolulu, it was an easy YES for me, even though I had plans to be on Oahu just the week before for Tower of Power. Like last week, we flew up on Saturday morning on Hawaiian Airlines. My first stop was to visit my dad and drop off some George’s Meat Market beef jerky. After a nice visit, Aaron and I stopped at Donki for lunch from their deli and Japanese groceries. The next stop was to Palama Supermarket for some Korean groceries.

We took our groceries and checked in at the Waikiki Prince and got our chilled grocery items in the hotel refrigerator. It was soon time to make the one mile walk to Blue Note in Waikiki. While we stood in line to get our seats, we saw friends from Hilo! Tiff and her family and Dayle and her husband were there to enjoy Air Supply too! This week, we ordered the poke nachos which came with taro chips and sweet potato chips. Our dish came out speedily in about 5 minutes compared to the hour we waited for our food last weekend.

The band opened with Sweet Dreams. They sounded so awesome. Next were Even the Nights are Better, Just as I Am, Every Woman in the World, Here I Am, Chances, I Can Wait Forever, Two Less Lonely People, Lost in Love, Making Love Out of Nothing at All. The final song of the night was All Out of Love. So so so good! I made friends with Sheryl from Orange County who enjoyed the music just as much as I did and we were scolded for standing on the steps of the stool and dancing to the music. 🎶 😂 Can’t help it. These songs are my jam!!! Walked back to the hotel singing the hits that I loved.

The next morning we stopped at Marukai and picked up a few more Japanese groceries and headed home. Side note: Upon checking in at the Hawaiian Air counter, we were offered the option of taking the earlier flight which would get us home about an hour earlier than planned. We thought it was a good idea so we took it. However, the best laid plans don’t always go your way. Instead of taking off 50 minutes before our original flight, we ended up taking off only 10 minutes prior to our scheduled flight. That still would have been ok. However, after being inflight for 15 minutes, the pilot turned the plane around and flew us back to Honolulu. I didn’t realize I signed up for the scenic Oahu air tour. Instead of arriving home at 11:20 am as expected, we took off for the second time and finally got home around 1:30 pm! It wasn’t as bad as the delays affected by the Crowdstrike airline issues, thank goodness. And I’m glad Hawaiian Airlines got us home safely. Living Hilo Style in Honolulu.
