Eagles at the Sphere in Las Vegas

I took off a day from work. I flew to Las Vegas on Hawaiian Airlines on a Friday to meet my husband. He was already there with his friends. Unfortunately, I did not get upgraded to first class with my upgrade certificates. I was very happy that I got an extra comfort seat through my loyalty status. I was on the first flight out of Hilo. In place of my workout that day, I got my steps in at the airport. By the time I boarded the flight on Oahu, I had managed to close my exercise ring.

On my interisland flight, I sat next to someone who often visits the Orleans where I was staying. She gave me some tips about benefits (free cruise!) we never took advantage of. Once I settled in on my flight to Las Vegas, I planned to watch Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. I also wanted to read a book on my Kindle. But— due to WiFi availability on all Hawaiian flights, I got busy responding to emails and texts. Ugh. I don’t like having WiFi on flights. Having WiFi keeps me up and connected rather than resting and relaxing. So I did not watch any shows or do any reading.

I arrived in Las Vegas in the afternoon and gathered my bag and met my husband at the Orleans. Luckily, I made a friend on my Las Vegas flight. He had a limo picking him up and was also going to the Orleans. Dinner that evening was at Alder and Birch at the Orleans where I enjoyed crab cakes and wine. The fresh oysters were the best!

I slept in a bit on Saturday–very unusual for me. I headed to the gym for a workout before having lunch at Ondori. At lunch, a person sitting next to our table was someone I had not seen in about 20 years! He was a bowler in my teacher league! I found out he retired and had moved to Las Vegas. After lunch, I felt either jet lagged or had a kanak attack. I took a nap before getting ready for the Eagles concert. Wow! The concert at the Sphere was amazing! I have seen the Eagles in concert three times before and loved each time since I love their music. This fourth time at the Sphere, the experience was outstanding with all the digital effects. They opened with Hotel California and the energy never waned! Getting out of the Sphere was not so amazing. If you know a secret exit, let me know. Our plan was to walk on the bridge to the Venetian and get a car from there. But because the bridge is basically a hallway, it’s crowded and very slow moving. Once we were out, the lines for rideshare and taxis were very long. We ended up walking all the way to Bellagio and getting a taxi from there. Thank goodness the weather was beautiful and it was an easy and enjoyable walk.

On Sunday morning, I got up and headed to the airport for our flight home. The flight ended up being over one hour delayed. Thank goodness we had a cushion of a layover at HNL before our flight home to Hilo. I’m glad this was a quick trip since my fur baby had had surgery on Wednesday and was recovering. Thankfully, my children gave him lots of TLC during our absence. Living Hilo Style in Las Vegas.
