My pals Craig and Audrey hosted a reception for the University of Hawaii Alumni organization to allow alumni and friends to connect, enjoy pupu, and connect with supporters of the University of Hawaii-Hilo and Hawaii Community College. The reception was held at the Hilo Yacht Club. Every time I visit the HYC (with no yachts), I always take a moment to breathe in the ocean air and enjoy the amazing beauty of the place in which we live.

We heard from UHH Chancellor Irwin and Alumni President Jason Haruki and my new boss, Interim HawCC Chancellor Susan Kazama. It was the first time for many of our community members to meet our Big Island-born chancellor. In true Hilo fashion, once we found out she went to Kalanianaole, Waiakea (and what year she grad), and who her parents and relatives are, it was so easy to chat and find each of our own personal connections with Susan. These connections make it so easy and enjoyable for us to partner to support our students and our community. Living Hilo Style.
