Spending Time with Suo-Oshima Tomodachi

We were able to spend one more evening with our Suo-Oshima friends. My pal Naomi graciously agreed to host our visitors at her beautiful home and she prepared the best array of delicious food for our guests. We had everything from poke (made with ahi caught by someone we know), garlic butter abalone (using abalone grown at Kona Abalone on Hawaii island), cheese, and salami, toasted baguette with various toppings, chilled somen, tonkatsu, stuffed lotus root, sashimi, steak, and sushi. We sipped champagne, wine, sake, and beer while we chatted.

The Suo-Oshima and Big Island mayors were able to strengthen the relationships between our islands in hopes of continued friendship and future visits to Hawaii Island and to Suo-Oshima. I am so happy that we were able to show our guests some Living Hilo Style.
