Ryan from Kadota Liquor worked with Rene Ahu from Young’s Market, Colin from Seaside Restaurant, and Seth Cripe, winemaker at LOLA Wines to offer a 6 course dinner of “local style” grindz paired with wines from LOLA.
LOLA Wines located in Calistoga was established in 2008 by Seth Cripe. Seth makes wine in the ‘old-world’ style and brings it to customers at affordable prices. Needless to say, my friends and I were very excited to try the wines from LOLA.
We started with appetizers of ahi poke with ogo, onion, inamona, and scallions and a kappa maki sushi to go with LOLA Rose of Pinot Noir.
Next, we enjoyed our classic Seaside favorite — calmari panko-breaded and deep-fried served with cocktail sauce. It was paired with the LOLA Malvasia Bianca Artisan Series. I enjoyed this wine and the pairing very much.

Our first entree was a familiar to us kalua pork with cabbage dish paired with a refreshing LOLA North Chenin Blanc Artisan Series.

Macadamia nut crusted mahimahi fillets served with wasabi cream and sweete chili sauce came out with a butterscotchy LOLA North Coast Chardonnay. Yum!

We also enjoyed a grilled teriyaki chicken that was paired with a very delicious LOLA Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. I forgot to take a picture of the chicken! Oops.
We ended with a Seaside Restaurant Taro and Sweet Potato Bread Pudding topped with haupia sauce and caramel, K’s Drive Inn Pineapple Twist Ice cream, and LOLA Artisinal Series Monterey Dry Riesling. Go see Ryan at Kadota Liquor if you want to know more about the LOLA wines we had. Living Hilo Style!
