Saturday Holiday Shopping–Pottery Sale, Sig Zane, Hilo High Craft Faire

My friend and I went shopping on a recent Saturday morning. On this particular Saturday, Higashi Hongwanji was holding their twice annual pottery sale that I love to visit. I enjoy looking for unique ceramic and porcelain items made by local Hilo artisans. You can hear the pride in the artist’s voices as they describe the pieces on display.Once I bring the pieces home, I love using the pieces for serving food, displaying items, or holding potted plants. I also love taking pretty serving dishes to friends’ houses and giving it to them as hostess gifts in hopes that they might love them as much as I do.

After the craft fair, my friend and I visited Sig Zane Designs in downtown Hilo to get our hands on the Hilo Hurley Hat! We got there a few minutes after opening and found that there were more than a few people there also picking up the beautiful black and gold cap for themselves and also for gifts for friends and family.

Our last stop of the morning was to the Hilo High Craft Faire at the Hilo High School cafeteria. I intended to make it a quick stop to pick up a couple of items from Kori from Beads and Things by Kori who was making some adjustments on a couple of my favorite necklaces.

Once I got there, I realized that it would not be a quick stop. So many of my friends from Hilo were also out shopping at the fair and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting and catching up with them.

There are several craft fairs still scheduled for the holiday season. The Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin is holding a craft fair this Friday (12/9, 4-9) and Saturday (12/10, 8-3) at Sangha Hall located at 424 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo. image1-1 There will be many craft and specialty booths including food booths! This craft fair offers FREE admission!
