A Visit to the Moon (& Turtle)

On a Friday afternoon, my husband called me to find out what I wanted for dinner. We don’t eat out very often since I enjoy making home-cooked meals. On this particular day, my children both had plans so I suggested to my husband that we go out to eat. We stopped at Kadota Liquor first for a few minutes and visited Ryan where he was holding a wine tasting event.

We got to Moon & Turtle and enjoyed the following dishes.

Kusshi Oysters – 3 with a pickled ogo mignonette and three with a tomato ponzu.

My very favorite smokey sashimi — today the sashimi was a local striped marlin served with a kiawe-smoked soy, Hawaiian chili pepper water, and EVOO.

A’u ceviche — local striped marlin, sweet onion, Solo & Rainbow papaya, cilantro, garlic, citrus, smoked Hawaiian chili oil served with locally made tortilla chips.

Garlic Butter Ahi Belly — garlic butter, ponzu, sweet onion, tomato, sesame.

Mushroom risotto — Hamakua and shiitake mushrooms, Koshihikari rice, white wine, Parmesan, and truffle oil.

It took more than two of us to finish this meal. We were lucky to have a couple of friends agree to join us that evening! Living Hilo Style!
