It was a full day of giving back to our community for me.I woke up at 5 a.m. and headed to Panaewa Park where Sunrise Athletics, a running club for youth in Hilo, was holding their Fun Run and Family Fun Day.
I was one of the people working in the rummage sale section. We had an amazing array of items for sale from a Kirby vacuum to a weightlifting bench to piles and piles of clothes. Since I was working, I didn’t get to cruise around the Family Fun Day very much but it sounded like the community enjoyed all the activities available that day. The sounds of laughter and the smells of kalua pig filled the air.I did get to watch and listen to the taiko performance that was held in the covered area where I was! Awesome! At 2 p.m., as soon as I finished working at the rummage sale, I left and got ready for the Hilo Medical Center Foundation event. The annual Wine, Cheese, Chocolate, and More event is so much fun and I enjoy myself each time I get to go. This event offered:
- Spectacular wines with distinct properties, aromas, and flavors
- Variety of Cheeses
- Decadent Chocolates
- Delectable appetizers created with local ingredients served by local physician waiters
- Live & Silent Auctions
- Cold beer
This year was a little bit different for me.
Instead of attending as a guest, I was one of the wine pourers! I worked with Ryan Kadota of Kadota Liquor and shared his delicious wine with the event attendees. It was fun to see and talk to so many friends who came to the Kadota Liquor table. Supporting the community while having loads of fun. A full day of Living Hilo Style.
