By Misty I.
Birthdays only come around only once a year. As I get older I want to ‘forget” about my own birthday but I cherish celebrating the birthdays of others. Recently we did just that at Roy’s Waikoloa. It was a good reminder to celebrate whatever we can, whenever we can and take absolutely nothing for granted. Indeed, life is too short.
I used to love watching Roy Yamaguchi on Hawaii Cooks from 1992-1997. I must’ve watched every single episode. I have also come to love Roy’s Waikoloa and eating there with friends makes it extra special.
If you call Roy’s ahead of time you can work with them on dinner options for a group. Our friend Ryan from Kadota Liquor also did a pairing for each course. The following is what we ate that night…
Appetizers:
Poke
Spicy Ahi Roll
Bamboo Skewered Tiger Shrimp with Wasabi Cocktail Sauce
Chicken Spring Rolls
Salad:
Organic Baby Greens with a Lilikoi Dressing.
Choice of Entree:
Char-Broiled Beef Short Ribs with Au Gratin Potatoes
Jade Pesto Steamed Mahimahi
Seared Shrimp with Grilled Eggplant
Dessert:
Chocolate Decadence
The evening could not have gone better. Good friends, good conversation, good food and good wine! Happy Birthday Wendy!
Love Roy’s!
