A group of UH Community college educators headed to Nashville to attend a student success conference called Achieving the Dream where we discussed and learned about strategies for student success.
I caught the United Airlines flight from Hilo to LAX, then flew to Houston, then I caught the final leg from Houston to Nashville. I easily caught the hotel shuttle from the airport to the Gaylord Opryland Resort. It was a huge property that had beautiful gardens, 20 dining options, and live music. I was at the property for a conference and couldn’t enjoy all that the beautiful resort had to offer.
After the close of the conference, I joined a few colleagues to enjoy food at a restaurant called Biscuit Love where I enjoyed the food and company so much I didn’t notice that Sinbad was on the table right next to me.
After lunch, we took a walk to downtown Nashville and explored the area.
We saw the Music City Hall of Fame plaques, a beautiful bench in a boot shop, bought Goo Goo candies, and enjoyed live music in a honky tonk. I wish we had more time to explore Nashville–I hope to go back one day. That evening, I had time to see a show at the Grand Ole Opry.
The concert featured Crystal Gayle, Craig Morgan, Mike Snider, Jeannie Seely, Flatt Lonesome, and Mo Pitney. What an awesome way to end my first visit to Nashville.
