I got more lovely O.K. Farms rambutan in my farm box from Hawaii Eco. I enjoyed my rambutan & calamansi cocktail so much last time that I thought I’d try making another cocktail. This time, I found a recipe on Serious Eats called the Union Bar’s Banga #1 Recipe. I loved that it called for some ingredients that I grow in my garden that I don’t use that often. I used my cocktail shaker and muddled lemongrass, Thai basil, and ginger from my garden with two rambutan, a teaspoon of sugar, and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Once the herbs get bruised, I added ice and a shot of gin and shook, shook, shook. So simple and refreshing! I’m always looking for ways to use my lemongrass and this is a great one. Living Hilo Style.
