Celebrating Life

Hi! I have been MIA recently — work and life are getting in the way of my blogging hobby but I wanted to reflect on the wonderful afternoon I just had with a quick post to let you know that I’m still here.

I was invited to a birthday party for a one-year old boy. These celebrations are such a vital part of keeping connections alive with those we love. The COVID pandemic restrictions put these gatherings on hold for a while and it is so nice to get back into the swing of things with friends we don’t get to see on a regular basis.

This party had the best mix of Filipino, Hawaiian, and local favorite foods. Everything from a suckling pig, laulau, pancit, pork and peas, to a fabulous pupu buffet with edamame, poke, and warabi salad! After all that indulgence, I indulged even more with crispy banana lumpia! After getting home from the party, I had a total kanak attack!

After a quick rest though, I thought about the few hours I spent at the party and felt so blessed and grateful to have been able to enjoy the afternoon. Yes, the food was awesome but I am most grateful for having had the chance to spend time with old friends and new and talk about old times and plans for the future. My stomach and my heart are full.
