One weekend, my husband and daughter were out of town and my son and I were at home in Hilo without dinner plans. We decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants, Seaside Restaurant. I had been seeing some pictures on my social media feed from the sushi chef there and was craving his amazing creations. Check out his Instagram account at @foodxjitsu to see what I’m talking about.)
Luckily, we made reservations at the restaurant because when we got there, we found the parking lot and the restaurant to be busy. My son and I were quickly seated at our table. As I looked up across the room, I saw a good friend having dinner with her family and got to say hi. Soon after that, I saw another good friend come in with her husband for dinner.
My son and I ended up having dinner with that couple and having an enjoyable time.
We had hamachi sashimi, Foodxjitsu Roll, watercress moi tinono salad, oysters with uni and ikura, and fried calamari. My son also ordered shrimp scampi–without vegetables–and enjoyed it very much. My friend ordered fried aholehole and was amazed at the size of the fish–and she got three of them! We finally finished dinner and as we were walking out, we saw some other friends who we hadn’t seen in a long time. We ended up sitting with them and catching up for a while before finally leaving for home after our 4-hour dinner. Although I had expected to spend time only with my son, we both ended up having a really nice time catching up with friends dear to our hearts. Living Hilo Style.
Looks absolutely delicious!
