One] the first morning in Monterey, we went for a walk along the coast near the Cannery and further on to Pacific Grove. We got to see harbor seals and pups at a beach just hanging out during their pupping season on this lovely walk. The air was cool and crisp air and the ocean views were lovely. It was nice to see so many people out with their dogs this morning.

Upon returning to the hotel, we enjoyed the complimentary hotel breakfast of omelet, sausages, yogurt, and oatmeal. After breakfast we headed for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We took the children there many years ago and loved it there. I think we may have spent about seven hours there that time. If you go, don’t forget to get your tickets online before you get there. We all still loved this aquarium as adults. Watching the animals get so active during the feedings is always a hit. The otters, ahi, mahimahi, sardines, and sun fish were all so graceful.

Next we went on the spectacular 17-mile drive and saw sea lions, cypress trees, coastal views, mansions, and inviting golf courses.

What a leisurely day in the Monterey area. When we got back to town, we walked to a local Korean restaurant for some kalbi and japchae! Making friends with the owner/chef was a bonus. Living Hilo Style in Monterey.
