O’ahu for Work

Had some work on Oahu and got to learn and network at the ACTE conference. Attended several breakout sessions to help support workforce development in our community. One common theme was being sure to collaborate with partners to move our ideas forward.

During the lunch break, my colleague and I visited my dad since he lives right across the street from the convention center. He hadn’t seen her in about 15 years and was so happy to see his former hiking and hiking buddy.

After the workday, I headed to Foodland Farms in Ala Moana. I know it sounds bougie but I wanted to buy some caviar to take to a special dinner and was happy to find it there. While I strategized how to bring the caviar home, I decided to sit at the wine bar in the store in hopes that the wine would help me figure something out. While sitting at the bar, I randomly saw my Hilo pal Wendy! We also met Joe who sat next to me and offered the brilliant idea of buying a Hydroflask or Yeti to bring the caviar home. Conveniently, there is a Yeti store right in the mall. Unfortunately, there was no small Yeti like a soup container. However, I did find a cocktail shaker that was a good size for my needs. Yay! Caviar mission was a success.

After that errand, I met Kanani at Seoul Garden Yakiniku for KBBQ and banchan. It’s so conveniently located in walking distance to the Ala Moana. Yum.

The second day of my work involved some meetings after which I headed to Chun Wah Kam where I picked up my pre-ordered manapua, pork hash, and crispy gau gee to bring home to Hilo.

I always love coming home and in this instance, even more so because I knew I was meeting Misty for manapua, champagne, and quality time together. Living Hilo Style.
