Waiakea Lion’s Club 62nd Annual Chuckwagon Breakfast

The Super Stars 4-H Club worked with the Waiakea Lions at the 62nd Annual Chuckwagon Breakfast recently.  The Super Stars enjoy this time with the Lions, Waiakea High School Leo Club members, Boy Scouts, and the community.

In addition to our Hilo youth supporting the fundraiser, local businesses also come together to support the Lions on this fundraiser.  Much of the food and supplies are donated to the organization.  Suisan donates eggs, juice and milk are donated by Meadow Gold, papayas are donated by Hawaii Fresh Products, and of course–KTA Super Stores is a major supporter of the Waiakea Lions.

According to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald (Feb 18, 2016), the breakfast of Spam, eggs, papayas, rice, and pancakes brings in over $14,000 each year to support Waiakea Lions service projects. For those who didn’t do the very convenient drive-through, take-out option, there were door prize giveaways inside Sangha Hall.  Lots of donated produce and yummy treats were being given away throughout the breakfast. All you had to do was spin the wheel to see what prize you won.

Even thought I was the trash lady, it was still a nice way to spend a Saturday morning~helping the Waiakea Lions make our community better.  Living Hilo Style.trash.jpg
