Only Easy: Anykine Muesli and Hygge

By Misty I.

While learning about minimalism I stumbled upon a Danish term called “hygge.” Have you heard of hygge (pronounced HUE-guh?) The Danish are consistently ranked as the happiest people in the world. Oprah is also fascinated by these happy Danes. Why? Hygge has a lot to do with it.

Instagram has over four million #hygge pics to help you get a feel for it visually. If you prefer words, an explanation of hygge is here where the five main features of comfort, companionship, relaxation, connection to nature and simplicity are explained.

If hygge is the Danish art of cozy contentment then this “only easy” breakfast recipe seems totally hygge! It’s simple, yet healthy. I also like it because you can just throw anykine stuff in. It’s definitely not as indulgent as my post on Swiss Overnight Oats that can be found here, but it’s still yummy.

Anykine Muesli

Formula = 4 Cups grains + 1 ½ Cups nuts/seeds + ½ Cup dried fruit + whatever other fruit topping

Grains(4 cups) – old-fashioned oats, wheat bran, quinoa flakes, millet flakes, millet puffs etc.

Nuts/Seeds (1 ½ cups) – chia seeds, Mac nuts, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, pecans, pistachios, sesame seeds, etc.

Dried Fruit (½ cup) – cranberries, blueberries, cherries, apricots, figs, raisins, dried coconut, dried mango etc.

Fruit (whatevs) – frozen mixed berries, canned mandarins, fresh apples, sliced bananas, blueberries, strawberries etc.

That’s it, only easy!
